About this pattern
Katrin Scrunchie (Katrin Hårelastik) is a hair elastic made with the same pattern as Katrin Luffer, and both patterns are inspired by one of the many traditional Faroese patterns that can be found in the book Færøske Strikkemustner (Original title: Førosk Bindingarmynstur) by Hans M. Debes ( 1932). Katrin Scrunchie is the successor in Knitlidt's Katrin series. The elastic keeps the hair well in place, as it also has an elastic inside. The closure is what makes the pattern more difficult if you choose to make a knitted closure around the elastic.
Guide needles: Circular needle 3 mm (min. 60 cm if you use the Magic-Loop technique ) and circular needle 2.5 mm (min. 60 cm) or double pointed needles 3 mm, and possibly pin 5 or 6 mm as an auxiliary pin for closing the hair elastic.
Knitting density: 36 stitches x 33 rows pattern knitting on needles 3 mm = 10 x 10 cm
Additional materials: Strong hair elastic approx. 1 cm wide (see example on p. 5)
Yarn suggestion: 22 g Lana Grossa Meilenweit Soja (100 g = approx. 400 m)
