Nora Sweater Junior

Nora Sweater Junior is a sweater with a Nordic-inspired yoke pattern and a loose fit. The sweater is knitted in the round, from the top down, with raglan increases and German short rows both in the yoke and at the bottom of the body, which makes the neckline higher and the sweater slightly longer at the back. The sweater in the pictures is knitted in size 3–4 years in Trio from Navia in the colors Dark Brown (36) and White (31). Body and neckline can be adjusted as needed and knitted longer/shorter.

Size Guide

Nora Sweater Junior should have a positive ease of approx. 14 cm compared to the child’s chest measurement.
1½ (2) 3–4 (5–6) 7–8 (9–10) 11–12 years corresponds to a chest measurement of approx. 50 (54) 56 (60) 64 (72) 78 cm.
That means if the child’s chest measurement is, for example, 56 cm, you should knit size 3–4 years, where the sweater’s circumference is 70 cm.
Remember: these measurements are only valid if the correct gauge is achieved.

Finished Measurements

Chest circumference: 64 (68) 70 (74) 78 (86) 92 cm, measured around the yoke under the armholes

Body length: 31 (34) 38 (40) 43 (46) 49 cm, measured from the transition between neckline and body at the center front

Sleeve length incl. rib: 20 (22) 25 (27) 29 (33) 36 cm (measured from underarm to cuff)

Gauge (after wash and blocking)

17 stitches x 22 rows in stockinette stitch and colorwork on 5.5 mm needles = 10 x 10 cm

Note: If your colorwork is looser (tighter) than your stockinette, adjust to smaller (larger) needle size as needed.

Suggested Needles

Circular needle 4 mm (optional: 40 cm)

Circular needles 4.5 mm and 5.5 mm (40 cm and 80 cm, with magic loop technique)
